Working with Images in the Creator

Images are the heart of most custom sticker designs. The Creator makes it easy to upload your photos, illustrations, or artwork and turn them into stickers.

Uploading Images

How to Upload

  1. Click the upload icon (image with up arrow) in the left toolbar
  2. Select an image file from your device
  3. The image appears on your canvas, centered and scaled to fit

Supported Formats

  • PNG — Recommended. Supports transparency.
  • JPEG/JPG — Works great for photos without transparency needs.

What Happens When You Upload

The Creator automatically:

  1. Centers the image on your canvas
  2. Scales it to fit nicely within your sticker shape
  3. Trims transparent edges (PNG files) to remove empty space
  4. Applies the sticker mask so the image respects your chosen shape

Positioning Images

Moving

Click and drag anywhere on the image to move it around the canvas.

Resizing

Select the image to see its handles:

  • Corner handles — Drag to resize. The image scales proportionally.
  • Edge handles — Drag to stretch in one direction (may distort).

Rotating

When an image is selected, you'll see a rotation handle above it. Drag this handle to rotate the image to any angle.

Image Settings Panel

When you select an uploaded image, the right panel shows Image Settings:

Position

  • X — Horizontal position (pixels from left)
  • Y — Vertical position (pixels from top)

Enter exact values for precise placement.

Alignment Buttons

Quickly align your image relative to the canvas:

Horizontal:

  • Align left
  • Center horizontally
  • Align right

Vertical:

  • Align top
  • Center vertically
  • Align bottom

Remove Background (AI-Powered)

This is a game-changing feature. With one click, the Creator uses AI to automatically remove the background from your image.

How It Works

  1. Select your uploaded image
  2. Click "Remove Background" in the Image Settings panel
  3. Watch the progress indicator (processing happens in your browser)
  4. The background disappears, leaving just your subject

Processing Details

  • Processing happens locally in your browser — your images aren't sent to external servers
  • A progress percentage shows how far along the AI is
  • Processing time depends on image complexity (typically 5-15 seconds)
  • The AI model is optimized for common subjects (people, objects, animals)

Best Results

The background removal works best when:

  • There's clear contrast between subject and background
  • The subject has defined edges
  • The image is well-lit and in focus
  • The background is relatively simple or uniform

After Removing Background

Once the background is removed:

  • Your image now has transparency where the background was
  • Die-cut mode will trace around the subject perfectly
  • You can add a colored background using the Sticker Color setting
  • Or leave it transparent (the sticker will show the surface it's applied to)

Tips for Background Removal

  • High-resolution images produce cleaner edges
  • If the result isn't perfect, try uploading a different photo with better contrast
  • For complex images, you may get better results editing in dedicated software first
  • The feature works best with single subjects (one person, one object)

Image Quality

Resolution Matters

For the best print quality:

  • Minimum: 150 DPI at your target print size
  • Recommended: 300 DPI at your target print size
  • Example: A 3" sticker needs at least 450×450 pixels, ideally 900×900 pixels

Signs of Low Resolution

  • Pixelation or "blocky" appearance
  • Blurry edges
  • Visible jagged lines

If your preview looks pixelated, consider using a higher resolution source image.

File Size

There's no strict file size limit, but:

  • Very large files may take longer to upload
  • The Creator will handle most standard image files without issue
  • If you have issues, try reducing file size while maintaining resolution

Working with Transparent Images

PNG Transparency

When you upload a PNG with transparency:

  • Transparent areas remain transparent
  • The Sticker Color setting fills transparent areas
  • Perfect for logos, illustrations, and graphics

Creating Transparency

If your image doesn't have transparency:

  1. Upload it anyway
  2. Use the Remove Background feature
  3. Or edit in external software and re-upload

Multiple Images

You can add multiple images to a single sticker:

  1. Upload your first image
  2. Click the upload icon again
  3. Upload additional images
  4. Position and layer them as needed

Layering

Images stack in the order you add them. Newer images appear on top of older ones.

The sticker base shape is always at the bottom.

Cropping Behavior

Images that extend beyond your sticker shape are automatically cropped:

  • Only the portion inside the shape appears on the final sticker
  • This is called "clipping" or "masking"
  • You can intentionally let images extend beyond for artistic effect
